Being Chosen
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of the darkness and into his wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9
The Sting of Rejection
At one time or another, everyone feels the sting of rejection. It is a bitter feeling indeed. The early Christians certainly knew a thing or two about feeling cast aside. Imagine the comfort these early pilgrims felt when they heard Peter’s words to them, “…but you are a chosen people.” Guess what, sweet friend, you have been chosen as well! No matter what insecurities the enemy is whispering in your heart, remember that God deliberately chose you. You are a part of his royal priesthood, and you belong to Him.
No doubt we will continue to face rejection here on this earth, but let us find comfort and joy in knowing that God desired to have a relationship with us and has chosen us to be his people. He has not just made you to be the understudy or warm the bench either. No, our Father in heaven has determined for us to play a critical role in declaring his glory. Oh, what joy we can take in knowing that the God of the universe has called us for his purpose!
Prayer Over Our Heart
Father God, we thank you for the gift of being chosen. Thank you for the comfort we find in knowing that you called us out of the darkness of our sin and into the light of your son. May we find joy and contentment in knowing that while the world might reject us, you have claimed us as your own. May we live a life that declares your glorious light! Amen

I love how you include a prayer! It’s such a tangible way to speak truth to our hearts on top of reading the truth of your words!
I’ve only embraced this in the last few years. As a child, love was on a conditional basis. I was tolerated, not chosen or adored.
So to understand God’s view of me has been a slow accepting process. I pray I will thoroughly grasp it soon!
Amen! Thank you for the prayer and the beautiful reminder that we are chosen and unconditionally loved.
I love that God choose us and that he first loved us! It isn’t about us and yet it is all about us!!
The best feeling in the world is knowing that God has chosen me. When people around us hurt and reject us, which has happened to me on several occasions, God is still there. Beautifully written!
