Introducing Kristin!

Introducing Kristin!

I am a girl who loves to sit with a cup of coffee and daydream. I am most passionate about Jesus, my family, and family ministry. My husband and I live in Oklahoma with our two precious daughters. I spend my days with my girls, discovering and growing alongside them! You can usually find us either in our sunroom, the park, or taking long walks through Target. :)

I am a happy wife and mother to my amazing husband and beautiful little girl, and we are living the good life just outside of Oklahoma City. Well…we will be when we move there (from Houston) in January! I grew up in Houston, Texas where both of my parents serve as ministers. With God’s great guidance, I earned a degree in children’s ministry from Oklahoma Christian University, where I met my husband. I am an extrovert and love to make friends and have deep conversations. My days are filled with the duties of motherhood and homemaking, but when I find a moment to myself I enjoy reading cookbooks, blogs, and Karen Kingsbury’s books. I have a slight addiction to Facebook and Pinterest. Holidays are my favorite days. I love to cook meals that make people happy. I have a passion for family ministry and bible class teaching. Most importantly, my greatest desire to is to know my heavenly Father more each day.

What is your favorite Bible verse?

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. “ 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)

Who is the most relatable Bible character to you and why?

Titus 2 talks about instruction for the older women in the church to train the younger women to be godly wives and mothers. At this phase in my life, I feel I can relate the most to these younger women who need to be trained and mentored. I love to sit at the feet of older women and learn from their wisdom. As young women, we need these relationships!

What is your favorite go-to easy meal?

Goulash. It’s a cheap, twenty-minute meal that can feed an army. I’ll even share it with you!

Kristin’s Favorite Goulash

  • Brown one pound of ground beef with one chopped onion and two cloves of minced garlic. Soak up the fat with a couple of paper towels.
  • Stir in two tablespoons of tomato paste. Add in one 28 oz. can of diced tomatoes. Add in red chili flakes, salt, pepper, and your favorite Italian seasoning to taste. Allow to simmer as long as you’d like.
  • Meanwhile, cook 1/2 lb of elbow pasta according to package directions, and add the cooked pasta to the sauce along with about  1/8 cup of the pasta water.
  • Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve with crusty bread and a green veggie!

What are your hobbies?

My life seems to be centered around motherhood these days but I enjoy bible studies, cooking, reading, teaching bible class, snail mail, and browsing Pinterest.

What is your favorite T.V. show or movie?

Mr. Holland’s Opus– My husband makes fun of me because at least once a year I pull out the VHS player to watch this beloved film!

What’s your favorite thing to do in your free time?

Relax with a good movie or book or go out to brunch with my husband.

Who is your role model?

My dad. He’s been a youth minister at the same congregation for 20 years, a role he never saw himself in before God opened up the opportunity for him. He is humble, hard-working, easygoing, never complains, and loves God and God’s people. If I can become half of who he is I will be content.

Would you rather vacation at a mountain cabin or a beach house?

Mountain cabin, but nothing too rustic!

What is the best thing about yourself?

I’m a talker! OK, so sometimes this isn’t a good thing, but I love that I can easily start conversations with anyone if they are interested in participating. My favorite people to talk to are those who have just as much to say as I do.

What is one of your favorite books and/or what are you reading right now?

Karen Kingsbury’s Baxter Series– Seriously, there are like 23 books…I’ve been busy!
