I am a recovering Army brat who loves to travel and start new adventures. My handsome husband and I met at Oklahoma Christian University and he whisked me away to Kansas. So, I bought some ruby red high heels and made Topeka my home. I have a rough and rowdy Princess 2-year-old girl and amazing twin boys (1) who make every day an adventure. We are grateful to be part of an amazing church in Topeka who regularly challenges and encourages our whole family. I have been both a full-time working mom and a stay-at-home-mom and/or both at the same time at one point or another. I am constantly seeking God’s wisdom on “balancing it all” and following His plan for my life, not mine.
1. What is your favorite Bible verse?
Seems cliché but probably Romans 8:28. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.”
God is faithful, His will is sovereign. I cling to this truth daily.
2. Who is the most relatable Bible character to you and why?
Moses. He struggled and doubted, he felt flawed and inadequate, he had a past and a frustrating family, he got angry but he loved his people fiercely. In spite of, or because of, all of this God fully prepared and equipped him to fulfill the purpose for which he was called. Moses was righteous and he loved and obeyed God even through the consequences he bore for both his own failings and the failings of the Israelites.
3. What is your favorite go-to easy meal?
Tacos! My husband loves them and they can be a great “clean out the fridge” opportunity. ☺
4. What are your hobbies?
Honestly, I’d like to say my hobbies are “shopping and doing Pinterest crafts” but really, it’s Politics.
5. What is your favorite tv show or movie?
Favorite Movie, this is a hard one to narrow down but my go to classic is probably either Emma or When Harry Met Sally. Favorite show, well it would be cooler to say “Castle”, but again with the honesty… it is Star Trek TNG.
6. What’s your favorite thing to do in your free time?
My favorite thing to do in my free time is spend time together as a family doing something memorable or go on a walk with my husband.
7. Who is your role model?
Identifying one role model is hard because there are so many different people who have deeply influenced my life in various areas, but if I go with a current well-known celebrity role model- right now it’s Candace Cameron Bure.
8. Would your rather vacation at a mountain cabin or a beach house?
BEACH! All. The. Way. I daydream about it regularly.
9. What is the best thing about yourself?
Not a great day to ask this one, haha. This particular day on which I am answering these questions has not been my most stellar performance. ☺ Today the best thing is my AMAZING shoe collection. LOL But really, my shoe collection is pretty great.
10. What is one of your favorite books and/or what are you reading right now?
I love reading. My favorite quote is “You can’t get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me” – C.S. Lewis Out of the Silent Planet and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer are leftover favorites from my childhood, along with the Chronicles of Narnia. But I am lover of Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie. Right now, I am burrowing into an Agatha Raisin mystery.
